Some students at CCHS were honored to help out at the band festival on March 12th at Carson Community Center. This event is where multiple schools gather around so their middle school’s band can compete and share their musical talents with everyone there. Mr. Koening wanted to make sure that everything would stay on schedule so he assigned the chaperoning job to the CCHS band students. When the students got there our school band members would escort them into their accorded rooms to practice and prepare for the big event and once it was a specific schools turn to show their musical talents the CCHS band members would escort them to the theater room where the showcase was held.
CCHS students also helped out with the big instruments students couldn’t carry. Our band students would also help out with placing about eighty chairs and about eighty stands so all the bands would be able to play properly. CCHS band members also helped and hyped the kids who were feeling nervous and once it was their turn, the middle schoolers would be hyped up, with school spirit and play with their hearts and souls. Our band members were also lucky enough to have the opportunity to listen to the bands that were playing.
“The performances were amazing, you could tell everyone gave it their all, some students even came up to us talking about how they wanted to continue in band and were even thinking about making it their careers” Once the event was over every band member was able to express their musical talent and have fun with kids who also share their musical interest.
